"A great holiday for the spectators and gymnasts!" Evgeniya Kanaeva talks about the Alina Kabaeva Grand Prix Champions Cup

Two-time Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva shared her emotions from the Alina Kabaeva Grand Prix Champions Cup.

"The atmosphere is wonderful. Every time there is a competition of this scale, it is a great celebration for both the spectators and the gymnasts themselves," she said. 

She told us which gymnasts she remembered from these competitions.

"I like each gymnast in her own way. I liked the junior girls, they are very interesting. The winners, Sofia Lantsova, Sofia Ilteriakova,  they perform the elements very well, they have a well-thought-out program according to the rules, there are interesting risks. I liked the girls from Sky Grace. In the all-around, I really liked the clubs and ribbon by Yana Zaikina. Karolina Tarasova also performed very well. Among seniors, our leaders, of course, perform very beautifully in artistic performances. Masha Borisova has become more courageous. A very promising girl is Uliana Janus, who trains with my coach. Karina Kireeva, who made mistakes somewhere in the all-around. But this is still normal, because the girls have few competitions, and they have only just been given a program. And that is why there is no such confidence yet. I hope that in about a month or two these interesting ideas will already be visible. I can imagine how much time our athletes and their coaches spend in the gym, and how much work has been done. This is respect, and a huge thank you for this kind of work," Evegeniya said.

The international Alina Kabaeva Grand Prix Champions Cup was held in Moscow from March 2 to 7.
