"Alina Kabaeva said that I would regret it if I didn't get it together." Mariia Borisova on the path to gold at the Russian Championship

Academy gymnast Mariia Borisova from St.Petersburg won three gold medals and one bronze at the Russian Championship.

Mariia Borisova from St. Petersburg spoke about the path to the long-awaited gold medals of the Russian Championship and shared the secrets of training at the Academy.

"I was striving for this, I didn’t plan ahead, so as not to think too much. As Alina Kabaeva said: “You have to look in your pocket and understand that there was no medal there yet.” But after the all-around, I understood that I could. And I got myself together completely to achieve gold.— At each control training session, new mistakes were found, to make sure there were no mistakes. It was in the judging plan that everything would be considered. And this really helped. And I think that this is even one of the main points that helped to get high scores," the gymnast said.

The athlete also noted the support of Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva at the competition in Moscow.

"Alina Kabaeva gets me in the right mind frame with her presence, but she also says that one after another, to the end, follow the apparatus. These are words that are repeated over and over again, but each time they remind me that this needs to be done. And this is the main thing, in addition to artistry. I was a bit out of sorts, and Alina Maratovna said that I would regret it if I didn’t pull myself together now. And I really thought that I would regret it very much later. And it really cheered me up for the clubs," she said.
