Our task is to approach the numbers dramaturgically, so that they have a readable story." Choreographer Alexander Mogilev on the Alina-2025 festival

Choreographer Alexander Mogilev, who worked on performances for the Alina-2025 festival for the first time, shared why working together with gymnasts is so important to him.
"I work in a team with Elena Afanasyeva, for which I am very grateful. It is very comfortable to work with her, she has a very levelheaded attitude to everything and very competently points in some direction, namely sports, namely gymnastics, telling me: "Sasha, this is not the way we do things, you, of course, forgive me." Everything is so respectful, it is all so comfortable. And this is really interesting. This feeling that gymnastics can take a lot from modern dance or modern dance can take something from gymnastics. I’ve already realized this for myself even in this short period of time," Alexander said.
He shared the main goals of the festival’s directors and participants.
"The script was very well written, and in terms of choreography, it was clear to me what to stage. This was probably our task, namely the dance choreographers who were invited this time, to approach the numbers dramaturgically, so that they would have a readable story. And the stories that were embedded, and each number has a certain story and some dramaturgy, are very clear to me. And to convey to the girls that they are not just going out on the carpet to show elements or show some choreography that is simply connected with the music. They should also carry some emotion, they should carry some story," he said.
The International Alina-2025 Children's Charity Rhythmic Gymnastics Festival was held at the Martial Arts Academy on April 18. It was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
