"This composition was created from the fragments of my soul." Composer Nikola Melnikov on accompanying at the Alina-2025 festival

The original composition by pianist Nikola Melnikov was selected as the musical accompaniment to the Window performance at the Alina-2025 festival.
He shared what feelings he experienced during the accompaniment.
“When I am on stage for these three minutes, it is as if I am transported to the sky above Leningrad at this moment, I find myself in some story. I think that due to all the effects, everything that happens on stage, there will be maximum immersion in the process and in the composition itself, in the creative object itself. I think that it is wonderful to build bridges between genres in general, and especially in music. The main thing is that people with excellent taste do this, and the guys are all right with this. Therefore, the performance is put together very well from performance to performance,” Nikola said.
The pianist told how the music was created.
“This composition is from my album "Last Hope", which was released last year. This composition was created simply from some of my soul fragments, probably. I wrote this album over ten years. It is collected from, probably, all periods of my life. The organizers of the show very successfully, it seems to me, chose the moment, the theme and the artists to participate in the performance,” the pianist said.
Gymnasts from different countries took part in the Window performance, such as Milana Parfilova from Kazakhstan, Natalia Usova from Uzbekistan, Nikole Leuta from Belarus, Leyli Aghazade from Azerbaijan and Milena Shchenyatskaya from Russia.
