Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva congratulated the Russian national team on the successful performance at the European Championships

"I would like to congratulate the Russian rhythmic gymnastics national team on their successful performance at the European Championships. This tournament became a special one for our team: after a long break, Russian athletes once again competed on the international stage under the Russian flag and to the Russian national anthem. This event is of great significance for the entire domestic sports community.

I’d like to highlight our juniors — Yana Zaikina, who won the gold medal, and Ksenia Savinova, who took silver at the competition. I am sure this tournament will be an important step for you in your international career.

Congratulations to the seniors of the group exercise team, who became the silver medalists. Behind this success lie tremendous hard work, mutual trust, and true team spirit.

I would like to give special mention to Mariia Borisova, Sofia Ilteryakova, and Eva Kononova. You showed character, confidence, and a willingness to fight until the very end throughout the entire tournament. Mariia and Sofia have made it into the top six gymnasts in Europe.

The seniors’ performance culminated in a bronze medal in the team competition, which once again demonstrated professionalism of our team.

I would like to thank the coaches, choreographers, doctors, and all the specialists who work every day to ensure the success of our athletes. I appreciate our fans, who cheered on the gymnasts enthusiastically throughout the tournament, prepared posters, and created a unique atmosphere in the stands.

This European championship has once again confirmed that Russian rhythmic gymnastics remains one of the strongest in the world and continues evolving. I am confident our national team has many more spectacular victories and reasons to be proud ahead!"
