Chevtaeva’s catch: 11-year-old gymnast has an original element named after her

A new gymnastics element has been named after Eva Chevtaeva, an 11-year-old gymnast from Krasnoyarsk. She catches the hoop in rotations with her legs without visual control. No one else has ever done it before.
The catch is performed during the risk – a large throw where the gymnast takes her eyes off the apparatus. Eva throws the hoop horizontally and does a series of rotations around the vertical axis of the body under the throw. Preparing to catch the hoop behind her, the gymnast makes a chest stand and pushes herself with her elbows to stand on her knees. The gymnasts’ legs make a scissor-kick movement: one leg twists the hoop, which continues to move on the other leg.
The element has been attested, approved as original and named after the athlete from Krasnoyarsk.
For executing the original element in her routine, the gymnast can earn a 0.3-point bonus. Only Eva can benefit from the enhanced value of the element. If another gymnast repeats the element in future, it will be evaluated as an ordinary apparatus difficulty.
